QCVN 6-1: 2010/BYT of the Ministry of Health for natural mineral water and bottled drinking water
QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT standard issued by the Institute of Occupational Health and Environment under the Ministry of Health on June 2, 2010, includes standards for testing the quality of water output from household water purifiers used for direct drinking, cooking, and mixing.
Currently, the Institute of Occupational Health and Environment is the professional unit responsible for the Ministry of Health in the field of water quality assessment. This is also the leading national research institute under the Ministry of Health, the only representative of Vietnam invited to participate in the WHO international program to assess household water treatment technologies in the Netherlands.
Water sources that meet QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT standards must be controlled through 21 mandatory physical and chemical indicators and 5 mandatory microbiological indicators. Physical and chemical indicators include Ammonium, Arsenic, Lead, Cyanide, Mercury, radioactive substances... Microbiological indicators such as: E.Coli, Coliform...
Testing process for water quality of water purifier output meets QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT standard of the Ministry of Health
Only water purifiers with output water quality that meets the National Standard for Direct Drinking Water QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT can ensure the safety of users' health. Therefore, when buying a water purifier, consumers need to choose water purifier products with output water that meets the QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT standard of the Ministry of Health.
For filtered water, to test water quality according to QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT standard, the Institute of Occupational Health and Environment will conduct the following:
- Test all production batches by randomly taking product samples before circulating on the market.
- Test products randomly throughout the product life cycle.
Specifically, the water quality testing process will be carried out through the following steps:
Step 1: Initial water treatment efficiency test
The initial process will be repeated 3 times on 3 randomly selected devices of each product batch before officially circulating on the market. This process includes 2 tests:
- General Test water to check common indicators: Total chlorine, pH, turbidity, TDS, alkalinity.
- Challenge Test water to check 21 physical and chemical indicators and 5 microbiological indicators (mandatory).
Step 2: Monitoring assessment
The inspection unit will randomly select a number of devices that are being used by users throughout the product's life cycle according to the manufacturer's recommendations. This is to ensure that the water filtration device always meets the correct quality standards at all times of use. During random testing, if any parameters do not meet the requirements, the product will be recalled and widely announced on the inspection unit's website.
Step 3: Issue test results confirming that the output water meets QCVN QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT
Issuing a test certificate that meets QCVN 6-1:2010/BYT on the batch of products that meet the requirements.
